It's my privilege to be your instructor and see you all grow into drummers. Well done Courtney, Sean, Noah and Tanner on there recent performances and everyone else on there way. The Drum School has seen many of my students starting to perform and show prowess with their dedication to practice. Would love to see any old friends who can make it along. Clandestiny now drum update#
I just want to give you an update on recent activity.Įarlier in the year I was asked to produce (as well as drum) a CD for new pop artist Chris Amodeo a talented singer/songwriter. This section is where I can share some of those experiences with you.

Skip it.I travel a LOT and see a lot of interesting things around the world. Combine that with the decidedly un-metal vocals and the album utterly fails. I give credit to the band for attempting to stretch the bounds of the genre with the 10+ minute finale, “Clandestinity Now”, and some interesting structure on “Through Night-Kingdomed Gates” – see what I mean about bad lyrics? – but over all the album is filled with riffs you’ve heard before. There are a few catchy riffs and guitar melodies, but nothing on the album will blow you away. Ugh.Īs I said, musically this is perfectly serviceable melodic death metal. Combine that with some truly awful lyrics and it can’t be described as anything other than emo. His growls are perfectly serviceable, but that clean singing (which he uses about 70% of the time) has got to go. Alvestam made his name as a growler and singer in Scar Symmetry, but his work on this album can only be labelled as whiny crooning.

One, recycled melo-death riffs and two, emo. Simply put, FOR AEONS past is a mix of two things.

With this much talent involved, can FOR AEONS PAST live up to expectations? Throw in keyboard contributions by the esteemed Mikko Harkin (of tons of bands, but best known for Sonata Arctica and Cain’s Offering), and lyrics/backing vocals by Dark Tranquillity’s Mikael Stanne, and you’ve got a recipe for HYPE, yes you do. Formed in 2007 by ex-Scar Symmetry vocalist Christian Alvestam, the band includes members of Torchbearer, Angel Blake, Dreamtale, and Solar Dawn, to name a few. 45 are a bit of a melodic death metal super group.
